Hey
everyone! Today I will be evaluating an ELT webside called “one stop english”.
You can visit the website from here.

Main Info About one stop english
one
stop english was created in order to help English learners and mainly English
teachers. There are currently over 700,000 users in more than 100 countries
around the world. You can subscribe for £42 for a year.
It’s
a teacher resource site, part of Macmillan Education which is one of the
world’s leading publishers of English language teaching materials. Also resources
are clearly marked by age and level.
Unfortunately
I couldn’t find any information about the founders of the website but I found
out that Rachel Slatter is the managing editor and Erica is the development editor.
I would’ve liked if they informed the visiters of the website about who founded
it; however, there is detailed information about two editors, about what their duties
and purposes are, what school they graduated from etc.
You
can learn more about the website here!

The Content of one stop english
There
are more than 9,000 resources, including lesson plans, worksheets and
flashcards and, moreover, all of them are searchable by age and proficiency
level.
There
are many lessons including audio and video lessons, comics about grammar skills
and they may be enjoyable to young learners, poems and novels, lessons about
news from around the world, exams, etc. I think it’s good to use various
methods to teach English because very age group, even every person learns
English differently.
The picture below is taken from one of the comics about grammar rules. Click here to see more.
Target Audience of one stop english
Altough
one stop english was created spesifically for EFL teachers, English learners
can also benefit from the website. It is accessible to every age group and
every proficiency level.
The Purpose of one stop english
As
I said, the website was created both for teachers and learners. Learners can
improve their English thanks to various methods, such as video lessons, comics,
poetry or news. Teachers can create lesson plans that are available in one stop
english.
Updates
According
to the “about” section of the website, there are regular content updates and
new and updated resources are published every month. In my opinion it’s
important that the content is updated and most of the time new.
Errors
I
tried the free trial version and checked as much information as I could. As far
as I saw, there were no false information. And there were no broken links
therefore I didn’t encounter any errors or mistakes.
Quality of one stop english
There
are lots of visual aids in lesson plans that teachers can use. For example,
there’s a lesson plan and audio lesson about a story in which a girl travels
through time and goes to a rain forest. Many pictures of animals and trees were
used and I liked all of them very much. And yes, I think they are appealing to
the target audience.
Applying to EFL Teaching
In
my opinion, one stop english must be used by all EFL teachers. The lesson plans
in the website look very useful and enjoyable for especially young learners. There
are speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises that every level of
students can benefit from. Even I’m thinking of using one stop english in the
future, when I become a teacher.
